SUMMER CAMP

VOLUNTEERS

We are looking for enthusiastic volunteer councillors between the ages of 14-19 to join us this summer at Impact Skate Camp!

More than just volunteers, we are looking for mentors. This is an opportunity to positively affect kids' lives by supporting and empowering them to be their best.

Helping our participants have a fun, safe camp experience will also help you improve your  understanding of how to build strong relationships rooted in honesty, empathy, and kindness.

The Rundown

Impact summer programs are based out of East York Skatepark, with trips to other parks on the TTC through the week. Camp will include group lessons, individual instruction, contests, a video project, and other fun games and activities.

You will be expected to arrive at the skate park by 9am and head out when camp ends, at 4pm. Some campers stay for extended care until 5—you're welcome to stick around if you'd like.

Some of the responsibilities will include:
  • Help the kids with their skateboarding

  • Make sure they feel safe, cared for, and encouraged

  • Build positive relationships with campers and staff

  • Support the instructors with lessons, games, and activities

  • Help supervise on the bus and at the splash pad

  • Be patient, kind, and encouraging with ALL of the kids

  • Arrive on time, and let staff know if you'll be absent/late

  • Be ready to learn, adapt, and be part of an inclusive team!

What You Get

Volunteers will gain valuable skills and experience in program planning, team leadership, conflict resolution, and much more. On top of earning high school volunteer hours, your work with us can also be cited on your resume, and used as a reference for extra-curricular programs, college/university, and job applications.

Selected applicants will be required to attend a short training session before the start of camps.
