Doubles!

DOUBLES! It’s always nice when someone backs you up!

⠀⠀

In skateboarding, “backing up” means doing a trick right after a friend, usually on the same obstacle. I love this concept, because you’re only successful if the other person is successful too—you persevere together.

⠀⠀

Skating gives opportunities to push each other out of our comfort zones and into our unmet potential. In the right environment, we can teach, support, and inspire each other—sometimes leading the way, sometimes following.

⠀⠀

We’ve been slowly rolling out programming for the new space as we get it looking and feeling great, but today was the first time I had a chance to really skate it. There’s a lot of work to still be done, but I had a chance to put that on pause for a bit and enjoy some of what we’ve created.

⠀⠀

It’s always a blast shredding with @fayskate, and even though I’m usually the one instructing, she often gives valuable tips and feedback that I might not notice myself, as she did today. Fay battled it out for this new trick over the hip, and we kept each other stoked every step of the way!

⠀⠀

Beyond thankful for this place, and for this new chapter where we can bring something of great value to young people. A place to skate is awesome, but a place to belong is what can change lives.
